Titled "Born into Rhythm," my artistic creation delves into existential inquiries that resonate universally: the essence of humanity and the underlying purpose of individual existence. Fueled by a profound fascination with the intricate workings of my physiology and its interplay with existential questing, I embarked on an investigative journey into the physiological mechanisms facilitating life and uninhibited movement. This inquiry, rooted in the nexus of anatomy and philosophy, prompted an exploration into the innate human inclination towards music and dance, catalyzing a reflective journey back to the origins of human existence. Central to my artistic endeavor is an exploration of the foundational rhythmic element inherent in human experience: the heartbeat.

"Buttons"- Choreography by Aimee Watts and Julia Stuart
Performance by CHOREO, a multi-style Dance Crew at Oberlin College. Aimee co-directed, co-choreographed, and helped make lighting decisions for this performance.
The Piece, entitled Loosen Up, named after lyrics in the song we are dancing to, “Buttons”, was heavily inspired by The Pussycat Dolls. This pop-girl and dance group originated in Los Angeles, California, by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a Burlesque troupe. We were inspired by the choreographers Robin Antin, Kimberly Wyatt, Kherington Payne, and Michelle Jersey. These icons and choreographers created space for personal exploration, expression, and empowerment especially within femme spaces. They also paved the way for heel dance and Burlesque as a dance movement. This piece was also performed in Oberlesque. I would also like to cite the members of the group: Carmit Bacher, Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta, and Melody Thorton all of which I owe immense gratitude for laying the foundations my work.
